Release Notes

Hi all!

I was dissatisfied with the direction Ox was headed. It was diverging and getting harder and harder to work with. So I decided to re-architect the engine so it would be fully unified and easy to use. Due to this, the API is totally changed. Additionally, Ox has been improved so greatly that you wouldn't want to work with it the same way. This has obvious implications for the existing code for previous version.

The scene editor has come a long way, a new "general" editor has been introduced, and the GUI editor has been reworked a bit. The main change for the GUI editor is that it is back to editing just one page per session and the documents you've created for it are not going to work without a lot of hand tuning to the XML.

With these changes, Ox has become a mature 3D game engine. What Ox lacks it will be receiving shortly; better game components (more dynamic water, more fully implemented fogging and shadowing), better exposure of existing components to the editor, fully implemented editors, working particles, bug fixes, etc. If anyone would like to improve these components or would like to build better components to replace them with (or simply add to Ox), please give me an e-mail. A complete 3D game engine is a large task for just one man in his spare time :)
